Yeh Dillagi (1994)

The main leading actors in this movie are; Kajol, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in this family drama and romantic movie. The story revolves around two brothers, Vijay Saigal (Akshay), Vicky Saigal (Saif) and their chauffeur Dharampal's daughter Sapna (Kajol). Sapna's character dreams of riches and day dreams about her dream man who she would want to be with in the future or now. These two brothers are heirs to Saigal Industries, but only one son works properly in the family business. Vicky is the player type son of the Saigal family who does no work in the family business, he is a womanizer, flirt and believes in the one-time affairs not into a commitment with any girl. On the other hand, Vijay is the opposite type son since he's all work in the business and no play unlike his brother Vicky. When Sapna becomes one of Vicky's dream girls after she becomes a model and is 'materialistic', meaning the type of girl he would date. This is when Vicky falls for her and see's her as his dream girl. But after Sapna falls into all this success, it doesn't change who she really is and status of where she comes from. His mom wouldn't fall for this since she wouldn't approve of this relationship, plus Vicky isn't aware if Sapna likes him back or not. Vijay goes for a business trip to where she's doing a modelling gig and they become friends, which leads to more than a friendship. There are many twists and turns after Vijay and Sapna fall for one another since Vicky turns his life around after Sapna left him. There are major sacrifices made by one of the brothers which leads to an unexpected ending in my opinion.

This movie was very different since it was a different type of story than most older bollywood movies. I loved how it showed the two families being from rich and poor, it shows clearly that some people would never change to make their children happy. It teaches a lesson on how one's status. shouldn't stop someone from being with the one's they love. In this case, it shouldn't have made Mrs. Shanti Saigal disapprove of her son's relationship with their chauffeur's daughter, Sapna. I also have to say that the scenes leading to the ending were very different compared to other movies and it touched upon a different genre of family drama in its own way. I would give this movie a 9/10, loved the music, good actors, amazing story and some scenes did lack some chemistry in my opinion but the viewer is the judge of that. This movie had a few genres like; comedy, romance and musical too. I can watch this movie more than once since it has amazing songs and a story which really gives a good message to the audience.
