Vivah (2006)

This movie involves actors such as; Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Alok Nath and Anupam Kher. The character of Poonam, played by Amrita Rao is an orphan who after her parent's death is taken care by her uncle, Krishna Kant (Alok), who sees her as a gift. He see's that his aim in life is to nurture her as his daughter and marry her off. Pooja lives with her chacha, Krishna (Alok), chachi and Choti (Anjali). The chachi isn't fond of Poonam since she is more beautiful than her own daughter Choti, and is jealous of her as well. Krishna finds Poonam the best match, Prem (Shahid), he is the son of a wealthy, industrialist family and he falls for her on their first meeting together with both of their families. After the two families meet, they get the Pandit to decide when the wedding should take place, he says it should take place six months from now, then they decide to get the two, Prem and Poonam engaged. Shortly after their engagement their love is tested since a major accident happens at Poonam's home and Prem is to decide if he still wants to marry her. The accident which happened at their home, may leave Poonam scarred for life and this will test Prem's love for Poonam.

The movie, Vivah, is one of the cutest and romantic movies and I regret not seeing this movie earlier. Once you have seen the love between Prem and Poonam you will fall in love with their beautiful story and how they have come together as a couple at the end. I would give this movie a rating of 10/10, it didn't miss anything and the movie flowed really well from beginning to the end. I loved the song 'Mujhe Haq Hai' and 'Do Anjane Ajnabi' since these are the two most romantic songs in the movie and showcase the love between the lovers. I would recommend this movie to all fans of Shahid Kapoor or Amrita Rao, all cute romantic movie lovers and people who love these family oriented and romantic type movies. This movie also showcased the beauty and honesty in arranged marriages, showing that there is love there even though the marriage is set up between two strangers and in a short period of time. The movie has no villain, which goes to show that sometimes there is no need of a villain and for some this may be disagreed upon but in my opinion movies like these survive without a villain. It shows that sometimes some couples can click or connect on their first meeting and they know they are meant for one another- this is the beauty of arranged marriages. I have learned many few things from watching this movie such as; arranged marriages do work but if we do not work on them then they won't last and other thing being that sometimes just having faith in our partner is all we need- and of course having faith in both families and knowing whats right and wrong. I recommend all bollywood movie lovers to watch this movie and you will not regret this decision of giving this movie a chance. If you have any suggestions or recommendations for this movie, give me a shout and I can add more to this review.
